What the process looks like

A free, no-obligation consultation
A no-obligation consultation, in person, over the phone, or by video call. You tell us about your situation. We listen, and help you understand what you might need (and what you might not).

We tell you what you need
We give you a clear recommendation. What should be in place, why, and how much it will cost. If you already have something in place that works, we will tell you that too.

We draft your documents
We prepare your Will, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and any Trusts or supporting documents that are required. Every clause is written with the practical consequences in mind, not just the legal ones.

Your signing meeting
We walk you through every document before you sign, making sure you understand every part of your estate plan. Then we handle the witnessing properly so that everything is legally binding.

Document storage
Once your documents are in place, they need storing securely. Just ask us during the signing meeting and we can store your documents securely.

Estate planning reviews
When life changes, your estate plan should change too. Having a child, buying a house, getting married, receiving inheritance. We are here to update or review your plan whenever you need us.

How do I know which service I need?
You don’t have to. Most people arrive with a feeling that something needs sorting rather than a clear idea of what. The first conversation is a free, no-obligation chat that exists to figure that out. By the end of it, you will know what you actually need (and what you don’t).
Can you help me with more than one thing at the same time?
Yes, and usually we do. A Will and a Lasting Power of Attorney naturally go together. Estate planning often involves both. It’s rare for us to put just one piece in place without considering the others. The consultation maps out everything, then we recommend the simplest combination that fits your situation.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what you need. The first conversation is always free. A single Will is usually more affordable than people expect. We agree all costs with you upfront before any work begins.
How do I know I'm not being sold something I don't need?
This is exactly the question more people should ask, and it’s the one Elwyn & Mabel is built around. Most people don’t need a trust. Most existing Wills are fit for purpose with minor updates. If something you have already got works, we will tell you. We will never quote you for something you don’t need.
What happens in the first meeting?
A relaxed conversation, in person, over the phone, or by video call. You tell us about your family, your situation, and what you have been thinking about. We listen, ask questions, and explain what we think you need (and what you don’t). No paperwork. No pressure. No commitment to anything.
Do I need to come to your office?
No. We meet clients in person, over the phone, or by video call, whichever works for you. We have conducted meetings in homes, offices, hospitals, hospices and care homes. Within South East Wales, wherever you are, we can meet you there.
